Fibers Guide

The fiber or bristle, is the soul of the brush. the  best performance of a brush on an specific application stongly  depends on choosing the rigth fiber. below is a list of the brushing materials we have available, along with its propierties and common use.

VEGETABLES

TAMPICO

fibras vegetalesAlso known in mexico as "ixtle", it is a soft vegetable filament widely grown on the  northern region of mexico. it has an excelente resistance to heat (it can stand a continous exposure up to 300°f), alcalis and acids.  it´s ligth abrasiveness allows it to do a great job polishing  a wide range of materials such as plastic or woods.  because of its vegetable origin, it is  dielectric, making it reliable to work safely with flamable materials. tampico also is an absorbent fiber, capable to soak 65% more water than common plastics.

.

PALMYRA

Is a medium ridgid heavy duty vegetable fiber from india, with a characteristic redish brown color, works great on concrete floors or asphalt, dry or wet. recomended to sweep chips or grains. it is dielectric too.

PLASTICS

POLIPROPILENE

fibras-de-plasticosTough, economic and ligther than other plastics, resist most common used  acids, solvents and detergents. able in a wide variety of filament diameters, is stiff enough to perform a rigorous scrub on heavy duties. avoid use on temperatures over 175°f (80°c).

PVC

Heavy plastic, with great bend recovery wich make it an excellent sweeping fiber able with flag on the ends that gives a soft feeling and superior picking of fine dust. avoid use with solvents and on temperatures over 190°f (90°c).

POLIETILENE

Resists most  acids, solvents, oils and detergents. because of it softness is commonly use on  delicate surfaces such as some ceramics, carpets cars, etc. avoid use  on temperatures over 150°f (65°c).

POLYAMIDE (NYLON)

Long lasting,  excellent bend recovery, able on filament diameters from .005" to .055" . stands many acids  and almost every solvents and alcalis. avoid use  on temperatures over 190°f (90°c).

ABRASIVE POLYAMIDE

It has all the excellent propierties of polyamide, but also has abrasive incrustations of aluminium dioxide or silicon carbide grains, able in diferent filament diameters and grain sizes. outstandig performance on finishing or deburring jobs over irregular surfaces.  avoid use  on temperatures over 190°f (90°c).

WIRE

STEEL

fibras-alambresTough, economic and versatile. able in a wide variety of diameters and shapes, is more commonly used in .008" to .015" thick for regular derusting to polishing aplication. is stiff enough to perform a rigorous scrub on heavy duties. avoid use on wet enviroments and don´t manage  food or drugs  with.

STAINLESS STEEL

Same use as regular steel, but able to have contact with foods, drugs, and wet enviroments. also use to work stainless steel surfaces or other aplications where rust could be a problem..

BRASS
